Our Mission

Dedicated to Service & Community

Angelus has been serving the community since 1925. It is the largest, single mortuary in the State of California and the oldest, family-operated mortuary in the community.

The men and women on our staff have been specially chosen for their outstanding knowledge and experience. Even more importantly, they are united in their dedication to service to the community. This dedication is, more than anything else, the reason why succeeding generations of families turn to Angelus in time of need.

A funeral is a loving tribute of farewell. But, at Angelus, we consider it a service for the living as well. Instead of adding to grief, the last rites should be a consoling memory, bringing comfort and peace through the beauty and dignity of the service.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do when a death occurs?

Contact us immediately at (323) 296-6666. Our staff is available 24/7 and will guide you through every step, from transport to planning the service.

What is the difference between a funeral and a memorial service?

A funeral service is held with the body present, typically before burial or cremation. A memorial service is held without the body present, often after cremation has taken place.

Is embalming required by law?

No. Embalming is not required by California law in most cases. It may be necessary if you choose a service with a public viewing. We will explain your options clearly.

Can I plan and pay for funeral arrangements in advance?

Yes. Our pre-need planning program allows you to make arrangements ahead of time, relieving your family of difficult decisions during a time of grief.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, personal checks, money orders, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and uncontestable life insurance policies.

Do you offer cremation services?

Yes. We offer direct cremation, memorial cremation with a chapel service, and cremation with a full viewing. Packages start at $2,000.
